AVATAR is the on campus literary & arts magazine at St. Mary's College of Maryland. AVATAR was founded by Maryland Poet Laureates Michael Glaser and Lucille Clifton in 1971. Our name derives from the mythological "avatar" which means a manifestation.

AVATAR releases two magazines each school year, a black & white edition in the fall and a color edition in the spring.
